Two people were injured in a crash involving a police SUV early Friday in Orange County.
Authorities say the Town of Chester police SUV was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Kings Highway near Knapps View Park around 7:45 a.m.
The officer and the other driver suffered minor injuries.
The officer was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in another patrol car, and the other driver was transported from the scene by a family member and will be seeking medical evaluation later today.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the other driver fell asleep on his way home from working an overnight shift and sideswiped the patrol car before crashing into a utility pole.
Rockland Utilities will be working in the area to replace the pole today.
Kings Highway reopened just before 9:30 a.m.
