Police say a 9-month-old girl was struck by a bullet while her father cleaned an illegal gun in their Brooklyn home.
The shooting happened at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the sixth floor of a building in Brooklyn's East New York section.
Police say 47-year-old Pedro Rosales shot the child in the hip while cleaning the gun.
Rosales and the baby's mother, 24-year-old Jessica Aguilar, are facing several charges. Rosales is being charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Both parents are facing charges of reckless endangerment and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
The baby is currently in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital after undergoing surgery last night.
