Police: North Carolina man sent to hospital to be evaluated for trying to enter Stamford school

A North Carolina man was sent to the hospital for a mental evaluation after trying to get into a Stamford school.
It happened at Davenport Ridge Elementary Friday.
Police say the man, who appeared disoriented, got off a transit bus and tried to open the doors to the school, but they were locked.
They say he then hit the buzzer, saying he was there to drop off keys, and then asked for a job.
School officials put the building in lockdown and police arrived three minutes later.
Police say the man was arrested by state police earlier this week, but it's unclear why he tried to get into the school.
Police commended school officials for their prompt decision to take action.
