Mount Vernon police say a man was shot on East Fourth Street Friday night.

The victim was not immediately taken to the hospital. He suffered injuries not considered life-threatening.

The scene of the shooting at 19 East Fourth St. was active Friday night, with neighbors trying to figure out what happened.

Shortly after the incident, a Mount Vernon firetruck had its ladder extended to a building's roof. It was retracted shortly after.

Mount Vernon police haven't provided any more information on the victim's condition.
