Police are searching for the gunman who fatally shot a man in broad daylight in Mount Vernon Wednesday.

The incident happened at around 2 p.m. in front of 20 East 4th St., where a man in his late 20s was shot multiple times, police say. The victim was rushed to Mount Vernon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Wednesday's deadly shooting raises the total of murders in Mount Vernon to seven so far this year.
