Police: Man dead after accidental drowning in Rye

A man in his 40s has died after what police say looks like an accidental drowning at a small spot near Rye Playland and the Read Sanctuary.

A man in his 40s has died after what police say looks like an accidental drowning at a small spot near Rye Playland and the Read Sanctuary.
Police say it happened around 7:15 p.m. Friday.
There are signs in the area that say no swimming, kayaking or fishing is permitted.
According to police, the man was removed from the water prior to their arrival and EMS personnel were administering CPR.
He was taken to Greenwich Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
