yesterdayHundreds of Hudson Valley and MTA police laced up their sneakers and hit the pavement for a good cause Wednesday.
Each year, local police departments take part in the Torch Run Relay for athletes with special needs.
Members of law enforcement ran from Yonkers to Peekskill to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement.
"My nephew is autistic. I know several autistic children. Definitely for a good cause," said one officer. "We do it all for a good cause. It's all jurisdictions passing the torch and we're all in this to do it together," added another.
The aim is to change the future for people with intellectual disabilities and light the way for acceptance and inclusion.
Since 1986, the Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised more than $14 million.
