Police hope surveillance video and interviews will lead them to a teen's killer after a Yonkers sweet 16 party erupted into a violent gang feud Saturday.
Police say 18-year-old Elizar Segundo, of Yonkers, was shot and killed across the street from the Portuguese American Community Center where the party was held. Investigators say moments later, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach in the community center lobby. Officials say Jorge Garcia, 17, has been charged with felony assault in the stabbing. About two hours later, a man was struck in the head and arm with a machete at a nearby street corner. The victim received seven staples to his head.Investigators say the violent string of events was the result of a fight between rival Mexican gangs Vatos Locos and Cholos 18. Police say one of the gangs crashed the party. Officials at the community center are reviewing their policy to avoid a future disaster.
