Police have identified the victim of homicide in Longwood.
They say Reginald Copeland, 64, was found dead with a stab wound to his chest inside his apartment at 1006 Longfellow Ave. just before 11:30 p.m. on June 3. The buildings landlord told News 12 a construction worker made the discovery.
"He was discovered with a knife in his chest, I believe," the landlord said.
The NYPD released a video of the man they are looking for the following day, who the landlord says is Copeland's roommate. He told News 12 the man was living with the 64-year-old's body for days before taking off.
Neighbors told News 12 that they had been complaining about a strong odor coming from the apartment.
The same Longfellow Avenue building made headlines in 2018, after a couple was charged in the death and dismemberment of 25-year-old Lisa Marie Velasquez.
"It's got to be haunted or something. Something is going on there," a neighbor said.
Copeland's alleged killer remains on the run as of Wednesday evening.
Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
