Police are on the hunt Saturday for at least five Peekskill teenagers who they say beat a boy so badly he had to be rushed to the hospital.
According to police, 18-year-old Peter Makinde and at least five other Peekskill High School teens stormed a Wal-Mart in Mohegan Lake armed with baseball bats and beat another student Friday night. The victim, 17-year-old Dominque Hollberg was rushed to Westchester Medical Center with severe head injuries.
Detectives say the fight started earlier in the day outside Peekskill High School. They say the group of teens was determined to seek revenge. Police say an off-duty federal agent who was in the same section of the store at the time of the assault intervened and apprehended Makinde. Makinde is charged with gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Police are hoping the store's surveillance camera will help them nab the other teens involved in the beating.
