Hampton Bays high school teacher accused of having inappropriate texting relationship with student

Kevin O’Toole, 40, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

A teacher at Hamptons Bays High School has been arrested for having an alleged inappropriate texting relationship with a student.
Kevin O’Toole, 40, has been charged with endangering with welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Southampton Town police say they were notified of the allegations on Monday. Investigators say they learned of the inappropriate text messages after interviewing the alleged victim.
There were no allegations of a physical relationship between the student and the teacher.
Hampton Bays School Superintendent Lars Clemensen wrote in a statement,
“We take all matters of safety and well-being extremely seriously. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and the need to respect the privacy of those involved, there are limited details that we can share at this time. However, we can assure our families that we are cooperating with the Town of Southampton Police Department and will ensure this individual does not have contact with students while the investigation is underway.”
