They say never solicit funds via phone, email, or any third-party associate. If anyone claims to be from law enforcement and requests money, individuals are advised to ask for their rank, name, phone number, and agency.
Contacting the local police department to verify the call is also recommended.
Personal information should never be given over the phone, and departments do not request money over the phone in lieu of a warrant for arrest.
