Investigators have arrested two men in the shooting of a New York man who was gunned down moments after his release from a Mount Hope prison.
Police say Devon Simmons, 33, had just finished serving 15 years at the Otisville Correctional Facility for assault and had planned to go to a halfway house in Manhattan. Just 15 minutes after his release on Thursday, Edgar Wilson, 35, picked Simmons up in his car. Police say minutes later, 35-year-old Jerome Mack jumped out of the car's trunk and opened fire near the Otisville Metro-North station.
Investigators say Mack had served time with Simmons and that the two suspects had a score to settle with the newly released man. State police tracked the suspects to New York City, whether they are from.
Wilson and Mack are being held without bail. Police say both men face attempted murder and weapons charges after being positively identified by the Simmons. Mack and Wilson are due in court next week.
Simmons is expected to make a full recovery, despite being shot twice at close range.
