Police have arrested three boys in connection with a break-in and vandalism at the Hudson Valley Islamic Center in Mohegan Lake.
Police captured the neighborhood boys, aged 12 and 13, about 10 hours after the incident. They say an officer recognized them from surveillance video and made the arrest.
Police say the incident is a case of vandalism, and not a hate crime. Authorities characterize the vandalism as more of a case of juvenile mischief.
The boys were charged with third-degree burglary, which is a felony.
The case will be handled in juvenile court.
