An attack at a home for adults in Monsey Saturday sent one resident to the hospital and another to jail.
The violence unfolded at the New Monsey Park Home for Adults located at 15 Monsey Blvd. early Saturday morning. The facility houses elderly people, as well as mentally and physically disabled residents.
Patrick Brady, 56, is in police custody, accused of beating his roommate in the head repeatedly with a metal bar. The victim was found by a staff member, lying in a pool of blood at around 8:30 a.m.
"The injuries consisted of a broken jaw, broken eye socket, a broken wrist, as well as laceration to his ear," said Detective Sgt. Brian Corbett, of the Ramapo Police Department.
Authorities say it's unclear what led up to the attack, but police say no one heard anything before or during the assault. Officials at the home have not commented.
Brady has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
He is being held on $50,000 bail at the Rockland County Jail.
