Three women from Queens were arrested in Rye Thursday for allegedly trying to use counterfeit $100 bills.
Police say the three suspects had tried using the fake money at stores in Rye, Port Chester and Rye Brook.
Store owners say they called police after the suspects tried paying for merchandise with the counterfeit money. Tony D'onofrio says he was suspicious after one of the suspects tried paying for a 50-cent postcard with a $100 bill. He also noticed the watermarks on the bill were difficult to read.
Police caught the suspects at a red light after a tip from another store owner.
