Three people, including a 9-year-old girl, were shot inside a Yonkers pizzeria Friday night, according to police.
Police say the suspect entered the pizzeria on the corner of Palisade Avenue and Elm Street at around 6 p.m. and opened fire. The girl was shot in the chest, a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 31-year-old woman received a graze wound to the arm. All three were taken to Westchester Medical Center.
Both the 9-year-old and the man remain in stable condition, while the woman was treated and subsequently released.
Police say they are using surveillance footage from outside a neighboring deli to help them identify the suspect.
Witnesses say the pizzeria was very crowded at the time of the shooting. Police have yet to make any arrests, but say all three victims were not the intended targets.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano informed residents Saturday that the city will be stepping up police presence following the incident. Police Commissioner Charles Gardner also said suspected criminals will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Yonkers police.
