Three staff members of an Orange County group home were injured while trying to break up a violent attack on a student last week.
Police say the incident happened at St. Christopher's Group Home for Girls in New Windsor.
A 17-year-old with special needs was trying to defend herself against three other students, authorities say.
They say two of the workers suffered serious burns from hot oil from a frying pan and another was slashed with a 4-inch butcher's knife.
A representative for the group home says they're deeply upset by what happened.
The student allegedly responsible has been arrested.
