Three devices exploded 200 yards from the back of a Merrick elementary school Friday, police say.

Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says bottles filled with chemicals were discovered around 9:30 a.m. when a parent dropped off their child at Norman J Levy Lakeside Elementary School. He says the parent found something suspicious, walked their child into school and called 911.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman says based on an initial analysis, at least one of the devices was meant to cause harm to multiple people.

No one was hurt in the explosions.

Police are checking fingerprints on the bottles, looking at video from doorbell cameras at nearby homes and scrubbing social media.

The motive is not known, but police say they are looking at all possibilities, including a politically charged reaction to the Supreme Court's decision on Roe v. Wade.

Police have stepped up patrols at over 600 locations in Nassau County, including churches.
