Pleasantville and Monroe-Woodbury girls win state soccer championships
Pleasantville and Monroe-Woodbury high schools are celebrating after their girls’ soccer teams won state championships at SUNY Cortland this weekend.
Pleasantville won the its first-ever Class B state championship last night against Central Valley Academy 3-2.
The game was close until Katie Moses scored the winning goal with just four seconds to go. "We pulled together as a team and kept our heads up; and it worked out and we pulled through and we won. It was insane," says Moses.
The community turned out in force as the girls arrived back in Pleasantville Sunday night. "I actually remember joking about going to states and laugh it off, but it’s surreal and it’s insane. I'm so proud of us, and I love everyone," adds Analese Picart.
The Monroe-Woodbury High School girls varsity soccer team won its second AA championship by defeating Fayetteville-Manlius 1-0. The  game’s only goal was scored in the second half by the Crusaders Josephine Sorce.
