A new platform is helping people personally thank essential workers battling the coronavirus.
6FTCloser is a new platform that matches people with someone on the front lines of the pandemic who they've never met.
"People at home sign up really easily, really quickly," says 6FTCloser Co-founder Sahil Bhaiwala. "They get their name and another couple tidbits of information just to make it feel really homey and close."
People can also nominate health care workers to receive a thank you. The platform's head of operations says it will surpass 500 videos sent in its first week.
"(Responses) ranging from, 'This was really sweet. Thank you.' to 'I'm holding back tears. This just gave me new life to continue my shift,'" says co-founder Noah Friedman. "And with that one right there, it was an overwhelming thought of OK, we need to go forward and do this."
