The Planview-Old Bethpage community has voted down a $114 million bond proposal.
The measure would have paid to build more facilities at Plainview-JFK High School, Judy Jacobs Park Elementary and to renovate Jamaica Avenue School.
The changes would have cost residents an average of $550 per year.
The superintendent says the district needs more room due to rising enrollment. She says the district may have to consider moving a grade out of the high school.
