A fire heavily damaged a house in New Hampton this morning.

Fire officials say the flames broke out around 5:30 a.m. on Onion Avenue.

No people were injured, but the pets inside the home were killed.

The Red Cross is now assisting the homeowner, who was not home at the time.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
