The embattled outgoing police chief of Pelham Manor continues to collect a paycheck despite two weeks of dialogue between village leaders and his newly hired attorney.

Village Manager John Pierpont did not elaborate on why Al Mosiello withdrew his retirement papers or what issues are keeping them apart, only that he hopes the village can quickly move past all of the controversy that surfaced after Mosiello confessed to forwarding racially charged jokes to his colleagues.

The issue has begun to impact the bitterly fought race for mayor of Pelham Manor. News 12 is told that turnout could be record-high for the election Wednesday.

Republican Jennifer Monachino Lapey has been critical of the handling of the email fallout. Democrat Neal Schwarzfeld has made supportive statements for the chief, saying he was the victim of revenge from two disgruntled cops.
