The Pelham Fire Department received $440,000 to add new firefighters to its team.

The federal grant was announced Friday.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand say the money will allow the Pelham Fire Department to grow its ranks, which will help ensure that they can respond to any emergency quickly and efficiently.
