If you ever fantasize about what it was like to live in Memphis during the start of the rock 'n' roll era, look no further than a barber shop in Peekskill.
The Beale Street Barber Shop is part-concert hall, part-art gallery and part-music shop. Visitors can also get a haircut and shave five days out of the week.
Musician and barber Mark Sennis dreamed up the concept barbershop and named it after the famous street in Memphis long-considered the birthplace of rock 'n' roll.
"When I got my barber license, I said I want to open a shop and have music and art and hair all in one spot," he says.
Sennis decorated the venue with items he's collected that celebrate the musical pioneers who made rock 'n' roll what it is today.
Westchester Magazine readers recently voted BSBS the best barbershop in the county.
