An elderly Eastchester man died Tuesday after being struck by a car while crossing Route 22.
The man was struck by a black Acura while crossing the busy road near the Highland Avenue intersection. Police said the victim was not in the crosswalk at the time of the accident, and the driver did not have enough time to stop.
The man was taken to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries before passing away at the hospital.
The driver has not been charged and future charges are unlikely, according to authorities.
Route 22 was closed between Hyland and Tuckahoe avenues as a result of the accident, but it has since been re-opened.
