Thousands across the Hudson Valley celebrated the New Year at the stroke of midnight.
The largest party was held in the heart of the downtown White Plains business district. The event attracted about 15,000 spectators last year. The celebration featured live music, fireworks and, of course, the big ball drop.
More than 10,000 bright, LED lights dazzled the crowd as the ball dropped 150 feet at midnight, ushering in the start of 2015. Approximately 50 pounds of colorful confetti rained down on the crowd when the clock struck 12.
Meanwhile, the city of Peekskill rang in 2015 with what it hoped would become a new annual tradition. For the very first time, a ball dropped in downtown Peekskill along Division Street. The party featured a live band, a DJ and fireworks.
White Plains-based Heineken USA provided free cab rides for revelers celebrating in downtown White Plains to anywhere in Westchester. The 32nd annual Alert Cab program offering free cab rides in Orange and Rockland counties was once again up and running.
