Fort Montgomery residents say they are still shocked hours after police converged on their town to respond to a hostage situation involving a murder suspect and his two young daughters. Police surrounded the Bear Mountain Bridge Motel this morning after learning that Anthony Trapp, who allegedly killed his ex-wife in New Jersey, was staying there with his 20-month and 5-month-old daughters. The motel is located on Route 9W, down the street from Fort Montgomery Elementary School. Part of the road was closed for hours, and the school opened with a two-hour delay. Classes had already started at James O'Neil High School, which was put on lockdown. Parents say their children did not seem fazed by the police presence, but that the tragedy hits too close to home.
