Parents in the East Ramapo school district took their demands for better education to the doorstep of the troubled district's superintendent Sunday night.
About a dozen parents protested outside the home of embattled superintendent Dr. Joel Klein, calling for his resignation.
The parents say that state reports display East Ramapo as a broken school district that leaves many students, especially Spanish-speaking ones, behind.
Protesters say that Klein and the Orthodox Jewish-controlled board intentionally ignores the needs of Black and Hispanic public school children.
Klein's contract expires next year.
In a previous statement, a District spokesman wrote, "Dr. Klein is however in the last year of his contract. As a result, the school board will soon develop plans for succession."
Protesters say they will also raise their voices at the upcoming school board meeting scheduled for Tuesday.
