Parents and day cares are growing anxious over enterovirus in the Hudson Valley, especially after news that a New Jersey boy died of the virus.
There have been nearly two dozen confirmed cases of enterovirus in the Hudson Valley. Last week, 4-year-old Eli Walker died of the virus in New Jersey. Doctors say Walker had a slight case of pink eye when he went to bed almost two weeks ago and never woke up. The news has left many parents nervous over their children falling ill.
Day cares are also stepping up their efforts to keep children safe. At Lois Bronz Children's Center in White Plains, day care staff are washing their hands constantly and bleaching toys. Children are also sent home at the first sign of fever.
