One school in Yonkers is being awarded for encouraging public safety.
Students at Palisade Preparatory School were given an award for learning about fire safety, law enforcement and EMS.
The City of Yonkers gave them the School of the Month award for all of their hard work.
One student told News 12 that she saved a life from the skills she learned.
"I had a situation where a little boy was drowning in the deep end of my pool, and when we had taken him out of the water, we had to begin CPR right away and it saved his life, " said Taijah Pink, class president
Mayor Mike Spano named today Palisade Preparatory School Day in Yonkers.
