Palin appears in Purchase for autism walk
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visited Purchase Sunday to bring attention to those with autism and other developmental disabilities.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate attended the annual Walk Now for Autism event at the Manhattanville College campus. Palin and her family were greeted with applause before the governor addressed the crowd.
Palin's nephew, Karcher, has autism, a disability that is estimated to affect one of every 166 children. Palin thanked President Obama and members of Congress for funding that's going toward autism research.
