Millions are expected to hit the road throughout the holiday weekend.
Officials say to prepare for heavy traffic, especially during parts of Black Friday.
AAA recommends traveling early in the morning to beat the rush. They expect traffic to be the worst on Friday until 7 p.m.
Some travelers in Westchester County told News 12 they are planning ahead and sticking to early morning hours for their trips.
“Once we hit the George Washington Bridge, there was an accident, so we had some traffic there, but that was it," says Lyana, who drove to Yonkers from California.
If you do get stuck in some rough traffic, a Yonkers man who returned home for the holidays offered the following advice.
“Be kind, be gentle, be considerate. Give people the grace they need on the roads because we all need more of that," says David, who returned home to Yonkers during the Thanksgiving holiday.
The best time to travel on the road during the weekend is before 10 a.m. or 11 a.m., according to AAA.
Traffic is expected to be at its worst on Monday between noon and 8 p.m.
