The homeowner of a Spring Valley house where two girls nearly drowned Monday is now facing a long list of building violations and has been asked to vacate the property.

According to the Ramapo building inspector, the home on Sydell Avenue where a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old were found not breathing did not have a gate for the pool or adequate fencing.

The inspector also says an outside cabana was being used as an apartment, and the basement was illegally inhabited by two people.

The inspector has revoked the house's certificate of occupancy and has asked all residents to vacate the property.

The girls found at the pool are expected to survive. Police are still investigating how they ended up in the pool in the first place.
