Approximately 100 people brought their concerns to light during Tuesday night’s Indian Point hearing following Holtec International's plans to dump radioactive wastewater into the Hudson River.

The hearing is solely dedicated for the Indian Point Decommissioning Oversight Board to hear statements from the public. Many Hudson Valley neighbors took the opportunity to underline their concerns.

Hudson Valley leaders and environmental groups claimed an environmental victory last week after Holtec decided to pause plans to release wastewater.

It had planned to move up its discharges into the Hudson River, but petitions circulated, politicians wrote letters, and counties voted to oppose the plans.

A full meeting is scheduled at Cortland Town Hall at 6 p.m. on Thursday. There will be presenters from Holtec, the state Department of Health, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and others.
