About 1,000 individuals gathered at Germonds Park in West Nyack Wednesday night for a vigil in honor of the Morgan family, tragically killed in a murder-suicide.
According to Clarkstown police, Bronxville police Sgt. Watson Morgan took his own life after fatally shooting his wife, Ornela Morgan, and their two sons, 10-year-old Liam and 12-year-old Gabriel over the weekend.
The State Attorney General's Office has initiated an investigation into the deaths.
At the vigil, the community fondly remembered the Morgans as exemplary neighbors, sharing cherished memories of the family.
A former student of Mrs. Morgan's drove from the Bronx to express the impact her teacher had on her life. Recollecting Mrs. Morgan's words, the former student shared, “'There's my angel girl, smiling at me just so I knew I was appreciated," said Karishma, the former student.
Amid ongoing efforts to heal, a third church service for the family is scheduled tonight at St. Francis of Assisi, offering further support to the mourning community.
