As summer temperatures soar, high power usage led to more than 3,000 Friday evening in Hudson Valley along the Sound shore in Westchester.
Nearly 3,400 residents lost power on the second day of a 90-degree heat wave as crews scrambled to restore power.
The outages didn't just affect residents hoping to crank air conditioning. Some traffic lights lost power as well. Crews set up makeshift stop signs at some intersections in an effort to prevent car accidents.
Con Edison officials are blaming the outages on equipment failure.
