The Ossining High School girls basketball team just can't be beat!
Firefighters escorted the team home after winning the New York State Federation Class AA Championship Sunday. The Federation Championship pits public, private, independent and NYC public school state champions against each other.
They beat powerhouse Long Island Lutheran for the crown, and made a very impressive comeback in the first half. "I'm so proud of them; we were down by 19 points in the first quarter. This is only the public school to win the Federation Championship, and we did it with three freshman starting, so it's amazing," says head coach Dan Ricci.
The win caps a great season for "The Pride." Last weekend, Ossining became the first girls basketball team in New York public school history to win four straight public school AA state titles.
