People of all ages around the Hudson Valley are running in Ossining to benefit disabled veterans and first responders.
The Hope For Heroes 5K kicked off at 9 a.m. Saturday on a mild day for a run.
About 70 people participated in the race, but for many, the cause they ran for was bigger than the race itself.
"They start to realize when they hear the stories of these individuals, their sacrifice, and what it means to them," says Hope for Heroes founder Mitch Serlin. "So what I was thinking for today was every step that that person took is a step to heal one of our heroes."
