An Ossining man who risked his life fighting for America received a special honor last week.

Maj. David Palka received the Bronze Star and the 2016 Leftwich Trophy for his heroism and leadership during a mission in Iraq.

The 32-year-old Marine and father of three is a graduate of Saunders Trades and Technical High School.

Palka belongs to the Parker Bale Post in Ossining, and members say they are beaming with pride.
