Ossining family seeks help after theft of daughter's wheelchair

An Ossining family is seeking assistance after a man stole their daughter's wheelchair from their yard, prompting concern for the seventh grade girl who has had acute flaccid myelitis throughout her life.
Vanessa Rivera posted home security camera footage on her Facebook page showing a man driving up in a maroon Honda Odyssey, exiting the vehicle and taking the wheelchair. Rivera also shared two photos showing the culprit loading the chair into his car.
The stolen wheelchair contained the daughter's backpack, which held essential items for school, including a laptop, books and school supplies. Consequently, the girl is unable to attend school due to the theft of her necessary belongings.
Ossining police have initiated an investigation into the robbery. Individuals with information about the incident or the suspect are urged to contact the department at 914-941-4099.
