Orangetown officials are considering significant changes for both Airbnb hosts and guests in an effort to address issues related to short-term rentals.

A public hearing is scheduled today to discuss a bill that would potentially ban such rentals. Officials are pointing to instances of inappropriate use of rental spaces, which include hosting large parties, generating excessive noise, and causing an uptick in vehicle traffic.

If the bill passes, Orangetown will join Clarkstown and Stony Point in prohibiting rentals for less than 30 consecutive days.

The public hearing is set to take place at Orangetown Town Hall at 7 p.m.
