A woman in Orange County had to be rescued from a pond after state police say she fled from troopers.
It happened Friday night in the Town of Newburgh. State police say they tried to pull over a 2014 Cadillac on Route 9W for violating numerous vehicle and traffic laws.
The driver took off, leading troopers on a chase through Newburgh and Marlborough.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle drove into a pond on Marchese Drive.
The trooper dove in behind it and was able to pull the driver from the water. Melissa Branagan, 38, refused medical attention but now faces several charges including DWI.
She was also issued 50 tickets.
