A small club in Orange County that brings together people of all ages through their love of model trains is in search for a new place for their weekly meetings.
The Old Newburgh Model Railroad Club has members from 10 to 80 years old.
The group started in 1942 and has roughly 30 members. It meets Wednesday nights at the VFW building on Oak Street in Walden where they build and modify displays and talk about their love for model trains.
Club President John Noll says the building, however, is being sold and that they've been unable to find another affordable space. He says if they can't find a new location, their togetherness is what members would miss the most.
"Some members are up here two or three times a week,” says Noll. “It's the social interaction. Losing the ability to work on the layout. Doing stuff we enjoy."
Noll says they need a space that’s about 1,600 square feet. The group is open to rental suggestions and offers via email at johnnoll85@gmail.com.
