Orange County Clerk Annie Rabbitt announced Tuesday that she is not seeking reelection next year.
The Republican county clerk made the announcement outside of the Orange County government building in Goshen after serving in the role for the past seven years.
Rabbitt began her career as a trustee in Greenwood Lake in 1999. She advanced to the state Assembly in 2005 before becoming clerk.
“It has been an honor, a true honor. It has been the time of my life - good and bad. I’ve truly enjoyed the adventure and I have a very adventurous side, so I’m not going to say Annie Rabbitt’s retiring. Annie Rabbitt is just not seeking reelection," she said.
Rabbitt says she’s not retiring from politics and endorsed Republican Kelly Eskew for clerk.
