The overhaul of the Orange County Government Center is being met with an another obstacle.
While fences are already up, signs are already posted, and construction at the center is well underway, petitioners say it's still not too late to stop the project.
A local preservation group has filed a second petition against the $71 million demolition of the 45-year-old complex, citing environmental concerns.
"There are more than 9,500 tons of concrete with dust, with noise, with air pollution that's going out with no study of the effects whatsoever," says Michael Sussman, attorney with the Paul Rudolph Heritage Foundation.
County Executive Steve Neuhaus says he stands by the decision to move forward with construction. He says it's in the best interest of the county and that any environmental concerns brought up in the petition are bogus.
Construction continues, at least for now.
