Wet weather will be hanging around tonight and into the early morning hours on Tuesday. That is due to one system pulling away (it brought snow and rain to the region this morning), and another one moving in this evening.

This second round of showers will also come along with some patchy fog, as well as a slight increase in temperatures overnight.

Expect the rain to fade early in the day, before or in the early portion of the Tuesday morning rush. With fairer skies to follow, mild temps and a pleasant breeze, Tuesday is the Pick of the Week for Hudson Valley weather.

Wednesday starts nice but then the sunshine is covered by cloud cover as another system approaches. Rain showers will move in during the night rush, but the higher elevations of the Catskills could see a wintry mix to wet snow.

That system moves out overnight Wednesday into Thursday but will bring cooler conditions to follow it in its wake. So, expect a temperature cool down Thursday into Friday and there may be even another system coming along the ways for Friday.

That one, due to the temp cool down, may have the chance of bringing a wintry mix to the area.

Once that Friday's system leaves, here comes a rush of colder air, just in time for the first day of winter.

The winter solstice arrives Saturday, 4:21 a.m., and it will certainly feel like it for Saturday and even more so on Sunday with temperatures getting even colder.
