Ogden Engine Company celebrated 125 years of serving the community with a dinner in Yonkers Friday night.
Another special anniversary at the event at the Dunwoodie Golf Course was that one of the members of the engine company marked his 75th year of service.
George Keiling, or "Baron" as friends call him, started as a firefighter when he was only 18 years old. He has been with the fire company ever since. At one point, he served as chief.
Being a firefighter is a family tradition for Keiling. His father served, both of his sons have served, and now his grandson is serving, giving the family over 200 years of service with Ogden Engine Company.
Keiling is also served as a Marine in the Korean War.
Keiling was celebrated along with two other members who served the engine company for 50 years each: Edmund Dalio and Gerard McLlvain.
Keiling is also the longest serving firefighter ever for this fire company. His hope for the future is that more people join.
