Officials say a Yonkers police detective was killed in a head-on collision with a firetruck on Sunday. The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Palmer and Sunnybrook roads in Yonkers.

Officials say a Yonkers police detective was killed in a head-on collision with a firetruck on Sunday.
The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Palmer and Sunnybrook roads in Yonkers.
Police say 45-year-old Frank Fernandez was off-duty at the time of the crash.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Detective Fernandez was a husband and father of two.
